Testimony: Pursuing Christ with all those who Call on Him (2 Tim 2:22)

I was saved by the Lord in a definite way when I was nineteen years old. I did not have much background in Christianity, but my grandmother prayed much for me over the years and shared the gospel with me, which eventually bore fruit. I immediately began to seek the Lord about where I should go, having in me a desperation to have a break with my past sinful life and a desire to meet with other Christians.

My initial experience in meeting with different Christian groups was somewhat disappointing and dry. However, within a few months the Lord brought me into contact with some who had been enjoying the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. What they shared with me from the Word was rich, enlightening and nourishing. When I read the Word of God with them it began to come alive. I began to see things in the Bible in the way of revelation. The Bible actually began to make sense to me. I also found the Lord in a fresh way by learning to exercise my spirit to call on the Lord’s dear name and to proclaim with my lips His Lordship.

Within a few months I began to meet with the church in Oklahoma City. The more I met with the believers there, the more my joy increased. Then, in 1983 we moved to Wichita, Kansas to meet with a handful of believers as the church in that city. The believers in the local churches have really cared for me and my family over the years. I have been helped immensely in knowing the Lord in a deep and personal way, knowing the truth of God’s word in a “cutting straight” way and having an overall view of the Bible and God’s way and goal as revealed in it (2 Tim 2:15). I also have been helped in the experience of Christ as my life personally for the building up of His glorious Body (Ephesians 4:12).

I have been meeting with the local churches for over 22 years and I really worship the Lord and thank Him for the opportunity and blessing to have the ministry of such precious and faithful believers as Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, and many others who conveyed life and truth to me through God’s Word. I also appreciate very much the opportunity to be one meeting with the local churches. This is a most glorious path, and I thank Him that I could have the assurance that in taking this way I am not wasting my life.

As a new believer, knowing nearly nothing, I prayed in faith about where I should go and how I should go on. I believe the Lord is continually answering this prayer by first bringing me to meet with the local churches and secondly by being my faithfulness to continue in Him. I have no regrets for my years in the church, only a heart full of thanks to my faithful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and an expectation of pursuing Him with “all those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” in the future.
